NOTICE OF RACE

1. Rules

  1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2025-2028, the rules of the Windsurfer Class Association of Australia (WCAA), and this Notice of Race.

2. Organising Authority

  1. The organising authority is the Windsurfer Class Association of Australia (WCAA), ACT division.

3. Eligibility and Entry

  1. The regatta is open to:
    1. Windsurfer LT boards with 5.7m regatta sail or 5m class sail.
    2. Windsurfer One-Design boards with 5.7m regatta sail or 5m class sail.
  2. All competitors must be current financial members of the WCAA with appropriate insurance. Membership is available at www.windsurfer-class-aus.com. Competitors without an Australian Sailing (AS) sailing number will be provided with an AS SailPass free of charge by the Canberra Yacht Club.
  3. The entry fee is $20. Registration is via ClubSpot at theclubspot.com/regatta/VXRdLiwQuW.

  2. Race times may be adjusted depending on wind conditions.
  3. No race will start after 16:00 on either day.

5. Racing Format

  1. The regatta will consist of up to 4 marathon-style races around landmarks on Lake Burley Griffin.
  2. A minimum of 1 race is required to constitute a series.

6. Scoring

  1. The Low Point scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply.
  2. Each competitor's best 2 results will count; their 2 worst results will be discarded. If fewer than 3 races are completed, no results will be discarded.

7. Venue

  1. Racing will take place on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra. The event will be hosted at the Canberra Yacht Club (CYC), canberrayc.com. Briefings will be held at the CYC and competitors will meet at the CYC for the start of each race.
  2. Overnight board storage will be available at the CYC on the Saturday night.

8. GPS Tracking

  1. GPS trackers will be supplied to competitors. Competitors may also use their own phone with the Windsurfer Tracker app (see wstracker.org).
  2. Live tracking will be available for spectators via the event page at wstracker.org/events/CapitalCup2027.

9. Safety

  1. All competitors shall wear a personal flotation device (PFD) at all times while on the water.
  2. Competitors are responsible for their own safety and for deciding whether conditions are suitable for them to race.
  3. Competitors should check current water quality at https://lbgweather.au before racing.

10. Prizes

  1. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in the series. This is a low-key event; expect a (cheap!) trophy.
