Windsurfer Tracker ("the App") is a GPS tracking application designed for windsurfing races and water sports events. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile applications (Android, iOS, Wear OS) and web services.

- Event Selection: Which event/race you are participating in

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your email address, phone number, or account credentials
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files
- We do not track your location when the app is not actively tracking
- We do not use advertising trackers or analytics services
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely for the purpose of race tracking:
- Live Tracking: Display your position on the public race map in real-time
- Safety Monitoring: Allow race organizers to monitor participant locations and respond to assist requests
- Race Review: Enable playback and analysis of race tracks after the event
- Statistics: Calculate race statistics such as speed and distance
4. Who Can See Your Data
Important: Your location data is publicly visible to anyone viewing the race on wstracker.org. Do not use this app if you do not want your location to be publicly visible during the event.
- Public Viewers: Anyone can view the live tracking map and see participant positions
- Race Organizers: Have additional access to track history, assist alerts, and participant management
- Other Participants: Can see your position on the map along with their own
5. Data Storage and Retention
- Server Location: Data is stored on servers in Australia
- Retention Period: Track logs are retained for the duration of the event and may be kept for historical/archival purposes
- No Account Required: We do not maintain user accounts; your data is associated only with the name/identifier you provide
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data:
- Event passwords are required for tracker apps to submit location data
- Administrative functions are protected by separate passwords
- Data transmission uses standard internet protocols
However, as location data is publicly displayed on the tracking map, you should not expect privacy for your location while using this service.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Start/Stop Tracking: You control when the app tracks your location by pressing Start/Stop
- Name Choice: You can use any name or identifier; it does not need to be your real name
- Uninstall: You can stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the app
- Data Deletion: Contact the race organizers to request removal of your track data
8. Background Location
The App uses background location permission so that tracking continues while:
- Your phone screen is locked or off
- You are using other apps
- You are actively sailing and cannot interact with the phone
Location tracking only occurs when you have explicitly started tracking. The app does not track your location at any other time.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for participants in organized water sports events. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a child uses the App, they should do so under the supervision of a parent or guardian who understands and accepts this privacy policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
